Hollywood is a suburban beachfront community in Broward County, Florida, about halfway between Miami and Fort Lauderdale.

Hollywood is a suburb of the Miami metropolitan area, but it has managed to keep its own unique small-town character. People from all walks of life are drawn to this city in search of a peaceful, family-friendly environment that also boasts a wide range of cultural offerings. Hollywood’s population is a dynamic and colorful melting pot of blue and white collar workers, with influences from Cuba, Latin America, and Eastern Europe.

Hollywood is also a bustling commercial center. Several parks, a golf course, and miles of gorgeous beach are just some of the amenities that make up this area, which is centered around Young Circle, a major commercial and retail hub. The tourism and healthcare sectors account for a large percentage of the local workforce.

Commuters who value convenience but prefer to avoid the hustle and bustle of the big metropolis will find Hollywood to be the perfect place to call home.

The most popular activity in town is people-watching, followed by golf, kayaking, and beach volleyball. There’s always a fascinating array of individuals on exhibit, whether you’re strolling the quaint, ancient streets of the historic downtown or strolling the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk.

You might easily waste a day browsing the unique boutiques and trendy seaside stores that Hollywood is famous for. A variety of malls are conveniently located for mall-goers. For shopping, head south to Aventura Mall or north to Fort Lauderdale’s The Galleria. There is little agreement amongst the locals as to which of these two premium malls is superior.

The people of Hollywood want to remain out late during the warmer months to take advantage of the city’s unique and lively nightlife. Few square blocks of gorgeous tree-lined streets make up historic downtown, where numerous restaurants, pubs, and music venues all offer outside seating for patrons. You may eat food from all over the world here, and then hit the dance floor at one of the local clubs. There’s always a good time to be had, and there’s live music playing someplace.

Artistic freedom is encouraged and celebrated in Hollywood. Visit the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project, which consists of a dozen or so incredible murals, and watch painters at work every month during the renowned ArtWalk. There’s always something going on at the ArtsPark at Young Circle, whether it’s an art installation or a live musical performance, so it’s a great place to get a sense of what’s happening in the local art scene.
