Azalea Park is a census-designated place and an unincorporated area in Orange County, Florida, United States. It is part of the Orlando–Kissimmee–Sanford, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area. The CDP is located approximately 5 miles and adjacent to the city of Orlando.
The CDP of Azalea Park covers an area of 8.4 km2 (3.2 mi2), of which 8.3 km2 (3.2 mi2) is land, and 0.1 km2 (0.04 mi2) or (0.93%) is water.
Colonial Drive (State Road 50) borders the north, Goldenrod Road (State Road 551) borders the east, and Curry Ford Road (State Road 552) borders the south. The western boundary varies: when south of Lake Underhill Road, the western boundary is Semoran Boulevard (State Road 436), but when north of Lake Underhill Road the western boundary is the Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) and Lake Barton.
The Orange County government serves Azalea Park. Police services are provided by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Highway Patrol. Orange County Fire Rescue provides fire/EMS services. Rural-Metro also provides emergency medical services in the area. Orlando’s Florida Highway Patrol station is located near Semoran Boulevard (State Road 436) and Lake Underhill Road.
Communications centers for the Florida Highway Patrol, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and Orange County Fire Rescue are located in Azalea Park. There are Emergency Operations Centers in both Orange County and Orlando. The Florida Department of Transportation is located in Azalea Park in the same building as the Florida Highway Patrol. As well as the Orlando RTMC, this office houses construction offices.
AdventHealth East Orlando is the primary hospital in the area. There is only one Level 1 trauma center in Central Florida at Orlando Regional Medical Center, which is less than three miles away. Azalea Park is also home to WWE Performance Center at Forsyth Commerce Road. The CDP has parks over the area such as Yucatan Park, Yucatan Dog Park and Colonial Athletic Track.
There are several schools within the neighborhood, including Azalea Park Elementary School, Azalea Park Baptist School, Chickasaw Elementary School, Forsyth Woods Elementary School, and Colonial High School. In previous years, these schools received average grades from the state. The physical boundaries of Full Sail University are just outside the campus. Azalea Park is the closest public post-secondary institution to Valencia College East.
Azalea Park is served by two airports under the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. It is bordered by Orlando International Airport (MCO) on the south and Orlando Executive Airport (ORL) on the west.
