Parkland Broward County

Parkland is a suburban city, 42 miles northwest of Miami, in northern Broward County, Florida, United States. Parkland is part of the Miami metropolitan area. In total, the City covers 12.8 square miles (33.2 km2), of which 12.3 square miles (31.9 km2) are land and 0.50 square miles (1.3 km2) are water (3.97%).


Parkland‘s northern boundary coincides with the border between Broward and Palm Beach counties. To the north is West Boca Raton, an unincorporated area that extends west of Boca Raton’s city limits. Coconut Creek lies to the east, Coral Springs lies to the south and the west is bounded by the Everglades. Loxahatchee Road bounds the city to the north, US Route 441 to the east, Sawgrass Expressway to the south, and Conservation Levee Greenway to the west.


N Univerysity Drive between State Road 827 and State Road 869 runs north and south and bisects the city. Hillsboro Boulevard turns to W Hillsboro passing US 441 which travels northwest and ends at Loxahatchee Road.


Public schools are operated by Broward County Public Schools in Parkland. Almost all of the city is zoned to Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, while small sections are zoned to Coral Springs High School. Additionally, the community is served by Pompano Beach High School, a magnet school. Parkland’s Westglades Middle School serves almost all of the city, while Coral Springs’ Forest Glen Middle School serves small sections. Riverglades Elementary School, Park Trails Elementary School, and Heron Heights Elementary School are public elementary schools. Coral Springs’ Coral Park and Park Springs elementary schools zone portions of the area. The only private elementary school in Miami is Mary Help of Christians School (of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Miami).


Parkland is teeming with parks and natural preserves including Terramar Park, John H. Quigley Park, Doris Davis Forman Wilderness Preserve, Brian D. Archer Wilderness Preserve at Parkside Trailhead, Liberty Park, Parkland Golf & Country Club, Pine Trails Park, Soccer field 7B Park Trail, Plaza del Lago Splashpad and Parkland Reserve Community.
