Tobacco farmer and former builder George M. Bridges. He built an airboat in his backyard in 1982 after deciding to change careers. Bridges mortgaged his home and spent all his time and money creating an educational and recreational park ground and producing airboats. In June of 1982, Bridges opened Everglades Holiday Park Airboat Tours and Rides and began providing narrated airboat tours of the Everglades. George’s son Clint manages the park’s day-to-day operations, making it a family business.

Davie Farm Lands, Inc., a for-profit American organization, previously held the land that is now Everglades Holiday Park Airboat Tours and Rides and deeded it to Broward County in 1964. The site may only be used for “public recreation purposes,” according to the deed. In 1965, Broward County and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) signed a long-term lease arrangement. Until June 2012, when the FWC gave the park back to Broward County, it was rented out. Since then, it has been managed by the county’s parks department.

One of the many Florida destinations that provides airboat tours and rides is Everglades Holiday Park Airboat Tours and Rides. The normal duration of an airboat tour in the Everglades is 45-60 minutes, during which time the captain will be able to point out many species of wildlife. You can travel at speeds of up to 60 mph in an airboat.

The Gator Boys Alligator Rescue is based out of Everglades Holiday Park Airboat Tours and Rides in Fort Lauderdale, where visitors may also learn about the ongoing efforts to protect the Everglades ecosystem. Alligators that have become a nuisance in nearby communities are captured by the gator-trapping crew and relocated to the Everglades. The park serves as a safe haven for alligators that would otherwise be hunted for their skin or meat. The rescue team appears frequently at the park for their filming of the Animal Planet show Gator Boys.

A nearly $16 million rehabilitation project was completed at Everglades Holiday Park Airboat Tours and Rides in March 2022. A lot of public spaces have been remodeled to reduce the likelihood of frequent flooding. Facilities like new washrooms, picnic spots, and public boat ramps were installed as part of the project.
